Repentance is a discovery of the evil of sin, a mourning that we have committed it, a resolution to forsake it. It is also, in fact, a change of mind of a very deep and practical character, which makes the man love what he once hated (God’s Law), and hate what he once loved (Sin).
Acts 3:19(a) “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out,”
Mark 1:14-15 “Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, (15) And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
Acts 20:21 “Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
Turn from your sin and trust Christ as your personal Saviour to give you a hatred of sin, a loathing of sin, a turning away from sin!
You can believe that you are a sinner and that sin must be paid for; you can believe in your good works; you can even say you believe in Jesus… but if you are not willing to trust God by accepting the Lord Jesus as your personal Saviour, you will die without Christ. In fact Jesus Himself said:
Matthew 7:21-23 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.”
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: (9) Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
If you now understand God’s one and only way to Heaven is Jesus, then trust and believe on Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and the Lord of your Life.
John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”
God Promises in Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
That is a promise directly from God! And you can do this by expressing your true belief on Jesus, by calling on Him in prayer.
While everyone’s prayer is different, we can provide you with an example that may help you.
PLEASE REALIZE: It’s not just mere words or vain repetition that saves you, but only a true BELIEF and FAITH on Jesus Christ and Jesus Christ alone; in Whom you confess that you are a sinner, ask Him to forgive your sins, and turn to Him and Him alone to be your Saviour.
“Dear Jesus, I recognize that I am a sinner in need of a Saviour. I believe that You died on the cross and paid the penalty for my sin. I believe that You rose from the dead three days later; and I am placing my complete faith and trust in You and You alone to forgive my sins and save me. Thank You for giving me eternal life through Your shed blood on the Cross at Calvary. In Jesus name I pray, AMEN.”
