He Is Able

We walk out of the book of Jude just as we walked into it—with a note of victory! One of the tremendous truths we must hold to in this hour of wickedness is the fact that we are victorious in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Notice the expression in Jude 24, Unto him that is able. We are not able, but God is able! If you have trusted Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, you do not need to worry because He is able to give you a home in Heaven. Though at times it seems that the wicked are winning, God’s people are on the victory side.

The Bible continues in Jude 25, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen. Think of the glory and majesty of Christ. Dominion refers to His eternal reign. Power refers to His right to be praised because He alone has prevailed. Read Revelation 5:1-5 and notice that Christ alone prevails to open the book. In this day of discouragement and fainting, we need to be reminded that He is able!

Let us consider some of the things that Christ is able to do:

He Is Able to Deliver

In Daniel 6:16-24, we read that Daniel, because of his faith in God, was cast into a den of lions. Is God able to deliver? Ask Daniel. When we run up against lions that try to devour us, God allows us to see that He is able to deliver us.

He Is Able to Make Grace Abound

For whatever we face, God is able to give us grace.

He Is Able to Do Exceeding Abundantly Above

No matter how big we can dream or think that God can do, He can do even more.

He Is Able to Subdue All Things

Read Philippians 3:21. God’s people can have assurance in their hearts that all is well because the Lord Jesus is able to subdue all things under His feet.

He Is Able to Save to the Uttermost

In Hebrews 7:25, we find that He is able to save them to the uttermost that come to God by him. God is able to save the most hardened sinner. As we look at the acts of the apostates in Jude, it is encouraging to know that God is still able to save!

He Is Able to Keep You from Falling

We find this promise in Jude 24. This means that you never have to worry about going to Hell if you have been saved. He keeps us from falling. Notice what the Bible says in John 10:27-29. We cannot save ourselves; God saves us. Christ is standing guard over us, and He is able to keep us from falling.

Hebrews 7:25 says that he ever liveth to make intercession for them. As God’s children, in every moment of our lives, Jesus Christ keeps us saved. We not only have the final victory, but we also have victory through faith in Christ on a daily basis.

He Is Able to Present You Faultless

There has been only one truly faultless Person who ever lived—the Son of God. No wonder Pilate said that he didn’t find fault in Christ. Those of us who are saved have been washed in the blood of Christ and are counted righteous before God each moment.

The Bible says there is coming a day when God is going to present us faultless. What a day! Ephesians 5:25-27 teaches us that someday all our blemishes will be gone. God our heavenly Father, will present us to Jesus Christ, our heavenly Groom, and say, “Here is the bride, faultless.”

This concludes our study of the book of Jude.
